Vote to pass a bill that prohibits motorists from driving faster than 70 miles per hour (mph) on an interstate or controlled access highway, faster than 65 mph on a multi-lane divided highway, and faster than 55 mph on a state highway unless the Department of Transportation and Development establishes a higher speed limit. The bill specifies that any proposed speed limit increase has to be approved by the House and Senate Committees on Transportation, Highways and Public Works.
