Title: Authorizes Additional Liquor Licenses

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes additional liquor licenses.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes the Commission to issue full-liquor-service restaurant licenses that do not exceed the total state population divided by 4,534, whereas existing law divides the population by 4,925 (Sec. 2).
  • Authorizes the Commission to issue limited-liquor-service restaurant licenses that do not exceed the total state population divided by 7,493, whereas existing law divides the population by 8,373 (Sec. 4).
  • Increases the application fee for the following liquor licenses from $300 to $330 (Secs. 3 & 5-6):
    • Full-liquor-service restaurant license;
    • Limited-liquor-service restaurant license; and
    • Beer-only restaurant license.
  • Increases the initial fee for the following liquor licenses from $2,000 to $2,200 (Secs. 3 & 5-6):
    • Full-liquor-service restaurant license;
    • Limited-liquor-service restaurant license; and
    • Beer-only restaurant license.
  • Appropriates $280,000 from the general state fund to the Department of Public Safety for the enforcement of the additional liquor licenses authorized by the provisions of this bill, effective July 1, 2012 (Secs. 9 & 10).
  • Requires 4 alcohol-related law enforcement officers to focus on the enforcement of the provisions of this bill, effective July1, 2012 (Sec. 1).
