Vote to pass a bill that sets the state’s minimum wage at $6.15 an hour beginning January 1, 2007. The bills specifies that the minimum wage will not apply to employers with less than 25 workers, local government employees or to student employees of state colleges and universities or student employees of the state. The bill also specifies that employers do not have to pay minimum wage to employees who have worked less than one year with the same employer. Additionally, the bill requires employers to pay the difference between an employee’s tips with direct wages if the total does not equal the new minimum wage rate.
