Vote to override a veto of a bill that provides information on access to the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, effective in the 2012-2013 school year.
- Authorizes the Department of Health and Environmental Control to offer HPV vaccination to students entering the seventh-grade in public and private schools (Sec. 2).
- Specifies that the HPV vaccination is not required for students to attend or enroll in school (Sec. 2).
- Authorizes the department to develop and provide schools with informational brochures on the HPV vaccination series to hand out to students in the sixth-grade and to highlight the optional nature of the HPV vaccination series (Sec. 2).
- Specifies that the HPV vaccination provisions of this bill are conditional upon the appropriation of federal and state funds needed to adequately cover vaccination and information distribution costs (Sec. 2).
NOTE: A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY OF MEMBERS ELECTED IS REQUIRED TO OVERRIDE A GOVERNOR'S VETO.
