Vote to pass a bill authorizing election day registration.
- Requires any individual registering on Election Day to comply with all of the following requirements (Sec. 1):
- Appear in person at a location designated for Election Day registration;
- Declare under oath that the individual has not previously voted in the same election; and
- Present one of the following forms of identification:
- Driver's license;
- Social Security card; or
- Birth certificate.
- Authorizes students to submit a current photo I.D. issued by a higher education institution in lieu of the I.D required to register, if the individual is an enrolled student (Sec. 1).
- Specifies that an individual must submit a form of identification with a current address, if his or her I.D. does not include a residential address, such as, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
- Learner's permit;
- Utility bill with a due date no later than 30 days after the election; or
- Student registration or fee statement from an institution of higher learning.
- Establishes a system for voters to register online (Sec. 10).
- Requires the Secretary of State to maintain an online database that contains the voter registration information necessary to identify individuals upon cross-reference for Election Day registration (Sec. 10).
- Requires voter registrars, once an individual has fulfilled registration requirements, to check the state-wide centralized voter registration system before admitting the individual as an elector (Sec. 1).
- Prohibits an individual who has already voted in one municipality from receiving an Election Day registration ballot in another municipality in the same election (Sec. 1).
- Prohibits any individual from soliciting, loitering, or peddling on behalf of or in opposition to any candidacy within 75 feet of any voter registrar location designated for Election Day registration (Sec. 2).
