Title: Voter Identification Amendments

Vote to pass a bill that amends voter identification laws, effective January 1, 2013.

Highlights:

  • Excludes the following documents from the definition of “identification,” whereas existing law includes such documents (Sec. 2):
    • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the voter's name and address;
    • A certified copy of the voter's birth certificate issued in the United States; and
    • A certified naturalization document.
  • Requires the state of Colorado to hold a referendum to allow registered voters to approve or reject this bill (Sec. 4).
