Title: Appropriates Funds for Forest Restoration

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds for forest restoration.

Highlights:

Establishes the Land Conservation Fund consisting of the conservation donation account and the public conservation account (Sec. 2).

Establishes the Forest Restoration and Treatment Fund for the identification and restoration of high priority forest and woodland areas (Sec.1).

$2 million to the Livestock and Crop Conservation Fund;
$20 million to the Centennial Fund for State Historical and Cultural Purposes; and
The remainder of funds in the Land Conservation Fund to the Forest Restoration and Treatment Fund.

Specifies that the Forest Restoration and Treatment Fund consists of funds from the Land Conservation Fund, matching federal funds and grants, and funds from any other source received for the purpose of forest restoration and treatment activities (Sec. 2).

Appropriates $1.5 million from the Forest Restoration and Treatment Fund for fire prevention and damage control equipment (Sec. 1).

Authorizes the use of funds from the Forest Restoration and Treatment Fund for the purpose of awarding grants to cooperating government agencies or qualified non-profit organizations for restoration treatments on priority lands (Sec. 1).
