Vote to pass a bill that prohibits local governments from establishing unpaid wage collection ordinances.

Highlights:

• Prohibits county and municipal governments from establishing any systems to retrieve unpaid wages (Sec. 1).

• Requires an employee to file a claim of unpaid wages in civil court and to complete the following requirements (Sec 1):
• The employer has been given written notification and has not paid the uncompensated wages within 15 days; and
• The claim is filed within 1 year following the unpaid work.

• Prohibits class action lawsuits to obtain unpaid wages (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a claimant to receive the following damages in a court decision (Sec. 1):
• Wages due plus interest; and
• Court costs.

• Exempts from the provisions of this bill employers with gross annual sales of more than $500,000 (Sec. 1).
