Vote on a motion to table an amendment to S Amdt 1730 to S 1813 that authorizes health care providers, sponsors and purchasers to decline coverage of certain health care items and services if such items and services are contrary to their religious beliefs or moral convictions.
- Specifies that a health plan which declines to provide coverage of specific items or services because of the provider’s or purchaser’s religious beliefs or moral convictions has not failed to provide essential health benefits and shall be considered a qualified health plan.
- Specifies that the provisions of this amendment are effective as if they were included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
