Vote to pass a bill that authorizes public high schools to provide an elective course about the Bible.
Highlights:
- Authorizes a religiously neutral and nonpartisan course about the Bible which may include, but is not limited to, the following information (Secs. 3 & 4):
- The contents, history, and literary style of the Old and New Testament; and
- The Bible’s influence on laws, history, literature and government.
- Prohibits assigning teachers to teach the course based on following criteria (Sec. 4):
- A religious test;
- Religious beliefs; or
- Prior or current religious affiliations.
