Title: Photo Identification Requirements for Absentee Voters

Vote to pass a bill that requires voters to present photo identification when requesting absentee ballots in person, effective June 1, 2012.

Highlights:

  • Requires voters to provide one of the following forms of photo identification when requesting absentee ballots in person:
    • An official state identification card;
    • An operator’s or chauffeur’s license; or
    • Any generally recognized picture identification card.
  • Requires cities, townships, and villages with access to the Ballot Tracker program to utilize the program so that voters can track the progress of their absentee ballots online.
