Vote to pass a bill that requires health insurance plans that cover maternity care to also cover legal abortions.
Highlights:
- Requires health insurance plans issued or renewed after June 7, 2012, that provide coverage for maternity care or services to provide substantially equivalent coverage for a voluntary termination of a pregnancy (Sec. 1).
- Prohibits health insurance plans that provide maternity coverage from limiting a woman’s access to a lawfully-performed abortion in any way (Sec. 1).
- Exempts multistate plans from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).
- Specifies that this bill does not affect the right of objection based on conscience or religion (Sec. 2).
