Vote to pass a bill that authorizes non-medical personnel to administer epilepsy medication to students at school in the absence of a licensed physician or trained nurse, upon completion of voluntary training.

Highlights:

• Specifies that medication should be administered by medical personnel whenever possible (Sec. 2).

• Authorizes school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools to provide non-medical employees with voluntary emergency medical training (Sec. 2).

• Authorizes the parent or guardian of a student with epilepsy to request that the school train a staff member in anti-seizure medication administration or select currently licensed medical personnel in the district to administer the medication (Sec. 2).
