Title: Bullying in Public Schools

Vote to pass a bill that amends the Louisiana School Code to define specifically what constitutes bullying, harassment, or intimidation in schools.

Highlights:

  • Expands the current Louisiana School Code to include the definition of harassment, intimidation and bullying including, but not limited to, any of the following (Sec. 1):
    • Any intimidating, threatening, or abusive gesture or written, verbal, or physical act by a student directed at another student occurring on school property, on a school bus, or at a school-sponsored event.
  • Establishes that any student, employee or volunteer who in good faith reports an incident of harassment, intimidation, or bullying to the appropriate school official shall be immune from the right of action (Sec. 1).
