Vote to pass a bill that reduces appropriations for public institutions including state universities and community colleges.

Highlights:

  • Reduces the appropriations for the Department of Education by approximately $63.9 million from the amount of basic state aid that otherwise would be apportioned to school districts state wide for the fiscal year 2011-2012 (Sec. 28).
  • Increases the amount of additional assistance given to charter schools by the following amounts (Sec. 1):
    • For grade levels pre-k to 8th, the amount given per student is increased from $1,608 to $1,622; and
    • For grade levels 9th-12th, the amount given per student is increased from $1,874 to $1,890.
  • Repeals the study of special education programs to determine cost of providing special education programs to qualifying students (Sec. 2).
