Title: Ethics Bill

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to withdraw from committee and bring to the Assembly floor to discuss and potentially vote on a bill that eliminates the Election Board and the Ethics Board and replaces them with the Government Accountability Board. The bill also creates an Enforcement Division within the Government Accountability Board and specifies that this division’s responsibility is to investigate violations of the elections, ethics, and lobbying regulations and bring civil and criminal actions against violators. The bill specifies that any person may file a complaint about suspected violations with the Enforcement Division and that if a complaint is frivolous, the person filing the complaint may be fined up to $500 or the expense of investigating the complaint.
