Vote to pass a bill that requires the state to fund certain programs mandated by the state for municipal corporations and school districts.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the enactment of unfunded mandates that add net additional costs for municipal corporations or school districts (Secs. 2 & 3).

• Specifies that the state is not required to fund new mandates on municipal corporations or school districts if (Secs. 2 & 3):
• The mandate is required by a court order;
• The mandate is provided as an option, but is not required to be put into practice;
• The mandate results from a home rule request, and the statute imposes costs only upon the municipal corporation or school district that requested it;
• The mandate results from an executive order of the governor, through use of his or her emergency powers; or
• The mandate results from federal law or regulations.
