Title: Smoking Ban Expansion

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to not concur with a Senate amendment on a bill that eliminates the exception from the current smoking ban for restaurants that have liqueur licenses and whose receipts are more than 50 percent from alcohol sales. The bill provides that smoking is permitted in the bar area of a restaurant or in a separate room with an independent ventilation system. The bill also prohibits smoking in bowling centers and outlines the requirements a bowling alley must meet to be exempted from the smoking ban, including that the bowling alley not primarily sell alcohol, prohibit smoking when there is youth league bowling, include a sufficient ventilation system, provide period of time where smoking is prohibited in the bowling alley, and provide the same service to smoking and non-smoking customers. Additionally, the bill stipulates that if a county or city adopted a smoking ordinance before the effective date of this bill, that ordinance will remain in effect, if it meets the minimum requirements of this bill, but states that if the smoking ordinance is amended after the effective date of this bill, it must be amended to strictly conform with this bill.
