Vote to pass a bill that increases driving restrictions on Class E intermediate driver's license holders beginning January 1, 2011.
Highlights:
-Increases the amount of supervised behind-the-wheel driving experience necessary to obtain a Class E intermediate driver's license from 35 to 50 hours, and requires that 10 of these hours be nighttime driving (Sec. 1). -Expands the period of day in which Class E intermediate driver's license holders are prohibited from driving from 11:00 PM until 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM until 5:00 AM (Sec. 1). -Prohibits individuals from obtaining a Class E intermediate driver's license if he or she has been convicted of any laws pertaining to drug or alcohol use in the previous 12 months (Sec. 1). -Prohibits the holder of a Class E intermediate driver's license from placing a vehicle in motion until every individual in the vehicle has been restrained by a properly fastened seat belt (Sec. 1).
