Title: Requiring Kindergarten for First Grade Enrollment
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits a child from being enrolled in the first grade in any public school, including charter schools, unless the child has completed 5-year-old kindergarten.
-Requires school boards to establish procedures, conditions, and standards for exempting a child from the requirement that he or she complete kindergarten before being enrolled in the first grade (Sec. 5). -The text of this bill was replaced by a substitute amendment sponsored by AM Jeffery Smith.
