Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill this week met with members of the Missouri Soybean Association to discuss what she learned during her recent trip to Cuba and what lifting the embargo against Cuba--something McCaskill supports through her cosponsorship of the Freedom to Export to Cuba Act--would mean for Missouri soy producers.

"Ending the trade embargo would be a boon for Missouri's economy," said McCaskill. "I would love for our farmers to sell more soybeans--which are a critical part of Missouri's economy--to the Cuban people, and I am excited and ready to do whatever I can to help Missouri's agricultural producers reap the benefits of this new frontier."

The Missouri Soybean Association represents the interests of Missouri soybean producers and processors through legislative advocacy, public policy initiatives, and public education.

McCaskill, Missouri's senior Senator, recently traveled to Cuba in a trip aimed at boosting agricultural and business opportunities for Missouri.
