"After five months of delays and partisan roadblocks, today's vote to confirm Loretta Lynch as Attorney General was long overdue. As the first African American woman to serve in this position, her confirmation is a historic step forward for our nation.
"Throughout her career Loretta Lynch has proven to be a tough, extremely capable individual. Today, I join in congratulating incoming Attorney General Lynch and look forward to supporting her as she fights for equal justice under the law."
