Fortenberry Statement on Iran

Press Release

Date: July 14, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01) today made the following statement on the new nuclear agreement with Iran:

"Under no circumstances should Iran be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. This agreement must demonstrate in a verifiable manner that it will stop and reverse Iran's march toward the bomb. The deal will be met with much skepticism from Congress, and we should be circumspect about the limits of what we can achieve with--or without--an agreement. It is my job to scrutinize the details of any deal, debate the merits, and examine added options. There are two risks involved: the risk of an agreement, and the risk of no agreement."
