Bishop Response to Passage of Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015

Statement

Date: May 14, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

In response to final passage of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 in the House today, Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) issued the following statement:

"Congress exercised its vital Constitutional role in foreign policy by passing the bipartisan Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 today. It is critical to the security of the region that any negotiated agreement meets the national security objectives of the United States and our allies.

"A final deal must include provisions that allow for reinstituting sanctions if Iran does not comply with the terms of the final agreement and also require a clearly-defined inspections process with short notice to enter Iranian facilities. Ultimately, the United States and our allies must be confident that any final agreement will be strictly adhered to -- and is a legitimate effort by the Iranian regime to cease the pursuit of nuclear weapons and restore its credibility with the international community."
