Proclamation - South Carolina Law Enforcement Memorial Day

Governor's Proclamation

WHEREAS, law enforcement officers are brave men and women who face
grave risks on a daily basis to protect the rights and freedoms
we enjoy as Americans; and

WHEREAS, through their dedication to safeguarding residents of the
Palmetto State, South Carolina's law enforcement officers serve
as guardians of life and property, defenders of rights, and
warriors against crime; and

WHEREAS, their commitment and sacrifice make our streets safer, our
neighborhoods stronger, and our families more secure; and

WHEREAS, the 2005 observance of South Carolina Law Enforcement
Officers Memorial Day provides an opportunity to acknowledge
the dedication and sacrifice made by the men and women
who have lost their lives while serving as law enforcement
officers.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mark Sanford, Governor of the Great State of
South Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 4, 2005, as

SOUTH CAROLINA LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIAL DAY

throughout the state and encourage all South Carolinians to reflect on the
ultimate sacrifice that these heroes made in protecting the residents of our
state.
