U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-FL, made the following statement about reports that hackers had breached the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and stole personal information from millions of federal workers:

"This week's data breach is a stark reminder that cyber-warfare poses a clear and present danger to the privacy and security of the American people. The national security implications of this incident are deeply disturbing since the evidence suggests that China may have been responsible. China has long been one of the world's leading state sponsors of cyber-terrorism. I am confident the FBI's investigation will uncover the truth about this very serious matter."
