Ross Votes to Pass Department of Defense Appropriations Act

Press Release

Date: June 11, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Dennis A. Ross (FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip, released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 2685, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which will provide funding for the Department of Defense (DoD) in Fiscal Year 2016.

"I was proud to vote in favor of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act to ensure our troops have the tools they need to properly and safely defend our great nation, including the necessary resources to combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and prevent future terrorist threats. This bill also gives our brave men and women in uniform a 2.3% pay raise to better compensate them for their service and sacrifices, provides fully-funded medical care for our troops, military families and retirees, and increases funding for important health programs and research, such as traumatic brain injury research and suicide prevention outreach programs.

"Congress has the constitutional obligation to "provide for the common defense.' This bill does this in a conservative manner while also protecting our troops, American lives and our country's security."
