Governor's Proclamation

WHEREAS, the future availability of a skilled workforce depends on
affordable education opportunities for all of our young people;
and

WHEREAS, scholarships supply funds to help pay for the cost of
postsecondary schooling; and

WHEREAS, many students are able to pursue their education due to the
motivation and scholarship support offered by government,
institutional, and private entities; and

WHEREAS, scholarships challenge, encourage, and give hope to students
of all socioeconomic backgrounds to obtain the benefits of a
postsecondary education.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mark Sanford, Governor of the Great State of
South Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 2005 as

SCHOLARSHIP MONTH

throughout the state and encourage all South Carolinians to recognize the
value and opportunities available through scholarship programs in the Palmetto
State.
