Crenshaw Votes to Move "Balanced Budget for a Stronger America" Forward

Press Release

Date: April 30, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Ander Crenshaw, Chairman of the House Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement regarding his vote to pass the Conference Report on Fiscal Year 2016 Budget Resolution. Known as the "Balanced Budget for a Stronger America," the measure earned his strong support on March 25th when it initially passed the House and again today (4/30) as the House approved the Conference Report.

"The "Balanced Budget for a Stronger America' puts opportunity for a brighter future for Northeast Florida and the nation at the top of the list - exactly where it should be. It ensures a strong defense, balances the budget in less than ten years without raising taxes, and fully repeals Obamacare and all its damaging mandates and regulations.

"Where President Obama's budget raises taxes by $2.1 trillion and never balances, the Republican plan moves America forward by cutting $5.5 trillion in spending and calling on Congress to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Citizens across the nation understand the need to balance their own budgets and expect Washington to do the same. Living within your means is the key to creating a healthier economy today and opening the door to greater economic opportunity tomorrow.

"Moreover, the Republican plan boosts defense spending above the President's levels while putting in place a plan to responsibly address the current spending caps and the threat of sequester. However, we must continue to work to remove the future threat of sequestration to our armed forces. Make no mistake, sequester levels would put our national security and the protection of our homeland at serious risk."
