U.S. Senator Tim Scott made the following statement in advance of Memorial Day:
"The men and women that wear our nation's uniform today and those who have worn it in years gone by allow each of us the opportunity to enjoy all the great things our country has to offer. They protect not only the country, but the heart and soul of our nation and freedom's blessings for each of us.

This Memorial Day, I hope families across the country will take a moment to say thank you to those brave individuals and families who have defended our nation, our values and our ideals. I am thankful for their service and grateful for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on our nation's behalf."

On Monday, Senator Scott will mark Memorial Day with service men and women, veterans and families from around Summerville, Ladson, and Goose Creek at the Summerville Memorial Day Observance.
