Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles) issued the following statement after yesterday's inaugural meeting of the House of Representatives' Bipartisan Taskforce for Combating Anti-Semitism. The Taskforce met with British Ambassador Peter Westmacott, German Ambassador Peter Wittig and French Ambassador Gerard Araud to discuss the rising tide of anti-Semitism in Europe.

"As a founding member of the Bipartisan Taskforce for Combating Anti-Semitism, I am proud that one of our missions is to focus on the alarming trend of anti-Semitic attacks and threats against Jewish communities in Europe. I was pleased to hear from our French, German and British partners that they are taking this issue very seriously and are working to bolster security for Jewish communities. I look forward to working across party lines to explore creative ways not only to protect these communities but also to reverse these trends."
