In honor of Small Business Week, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) and the Arvada Chamber of Commerce held a roundtable discussion with local businesses to hear about the challenges and opportunities of doing business in the 7th Congressional District. On May 7th, small, medium and large-sized businesses participated in the roundtable and discussed issues ranging from the Affordable Care Act to the challenges around hiring skilled workers.

"It's incredibly helpful to hear firsthand from businesses in the district about what they're experiencing in their day-to-day operations," said Rep. Perlmutter. "Small businesses are the lifeline of our economy both in Colorado and across the country and we must make sure we are doing everything we can to support them."

"The Arvada Chamber of Commerce is grateful to Congressman Ed Perlmutter for hosting an Arvada business roundtable offering our local businesses the opportunity to discuss their concerns and successes at a federal level," said Kami Welch, CEO of the Arvada Chamber of Commerce. "With the ever-changing environment this type of support and willingness to understand makes a big impact for businesses."

Every President since 1963 has issued a proclamation designating a week to recognize the contributions of the America's entrepreneurs and small business owners. Today, more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business making these companies the foundation of America's economy.

As a long-time advocate for micro and small businesses, Rep. Perlmutter supports the Export-Import Bank, comprehensive immigration reform, a long-term extension of the Highway Trust Fund and various other job training and tax credit programs to help small businesses start and grow. Rep. Perlmutter also helped establish the new USPTO satellite office in Denver which helps small businesses and entrepreneurs obtain patents for new products.
