U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-Aurora) applauded the U.S. Senate's introduction of a short-term funding bill to keep the Aurora VA hospital project from shutting down.
The project is set to run out of money next week if more funds are not transferred to the project.
The Aurora VA hospital is nearly a billion dollars over budget to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mismanagement and incompetence.
The previous bill to keep the project going, raising the authorization cap to $900 million, was carried by Coffman last month.
The Senate's bill will raise the spending authorization level for the project to $1.05 billion and transfer approximately $150 million from elsewhere in the current VA budget.
"I am proud to work with the entire Colorado delegation on getting the hospital built," said Coffman. "We have remained in constant contact throughout this process, among both parties and both chambers, to ensure the men and women who served this country get the hospital they were promised. When it comes to our veterans, our delegation remains united. I will work hard to make sure this measure gets through the House of Representatives."
