President Obama Visits Tennessee

I share the President's goals of making college more affordable and ensuring educational opportunity for all. However, his community college plan has more in common with the HOPE Education Lottery scholarship program that I worked to create than the Tennessee Promise program. Hitting the Ground Running in the 114th Congress

When I was sworn in on Tuesday, I talked about continuing the fight for civil rights. Part of that fight is reining in excessive--and far too often deadly--force used by some police officers. Read the Commercial Appeal's story about two bills I will introduce to address this issue.

Getting Politics Out of the Redistricting Process

It's time to take politics out of the redistricting process. Read more about the FAIR Act.
