Statement

Location: Harrison Township, MI

Today, U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) issued the following statement after touring the North American International Auto Show at the Cobo Center in Detroit:

"Today, I had an opportunity to tour the 2015 North American International Auto Show and was absolutely amazed by the exhibits, especially those put on by the Big Three. It gave me a true sense of pride to see how far these great American manufacturers have come over the past six years. At the peak of the credit crisis in 2009, the entire domestic auto industry accounted for fewer than 10 million units. Since then, they recovered, retooled, reengineered, rehired and are going strong, driving our economy. In fact, in 2014, they sold an impressive 16.5 million units, demonstrating the resiliency and technological advancement of American manufacturing.

"This resurgence is truly a testament to the hardworking people in Southeast Michigan who make it the heartland of American innovation. Ushering in a new generation of American ingenuity, the U.S. auto industry certainly has a bright future."
