Issue Position

1. Increase the number of green jobs in the Commonwealth and investment in manufacturing jobs
2. Continue support for VA's largest industry, agriculture/forestry
3. Revitalization of neighborhoods and investment in infrastructure
4. Creating jobs of the 21st century

* Received an "A" from the Virginia Chamber of Commerce for my pro-business voting record during the 2014 General Assembly Session.
* Served as a member of the MEI Commission that oversaw the proposal of a $2 billion investment and 2,000 jobs coming to Chesterfield County by the Chinese company, Shandong Tranlin Paper Co., Ltd.
* Co-sponsored legislation that assisted with the opening of the Vireol Industrial Company in Hopewell that will create over 70 new jobs and the plant is expected to buy more than $100 million worth of grain from Virginia farmers.
* Serving as a member the Virginia Housing Commission and chairwoman of Neighborhood Revitalization Work Group that works with legislators and stakeholders on creating reasonable and practical solutions to housing issues in the Commonwealth.
* Voted for the 2013 transportation bill and introduced the floor amendment that prohibits tolls on I-95 South of Fredericksburg.
* Secured $5 million assistance toward Hopewell Sewer Treatment System Project; $5 million assistance to Appomattox Regional Water Authority; and $24 million for water quality issues at Virginia State University.
* During the 2012 General Assembly Session, served as the patron on legislation (HB491) that authorizes a locality to serve as a receiver, appointed by the circuit court, to repair blighted and derelict buildings. This has a positive impact on cities such as Petersburg and Richmond by giving the localities an opportunity to deal with blighted properties in the city.
