Location: Washington, DC

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the below statement following House passage of H.R. 1560, the Protecting Cyber Networks Act. H.R. 1560 passed with bipartisan support, 307-116.

"Hard-working Americans, and the online services and information networks they use, face a daily barrage of cyber attacks from criminals, and in many cases foreign governments, attempting to steal valuable personal and financial information, costing families and businesses billions of dollars every year," Rep. Scalise said. "This much-needed, bipartisan Protecting Cyber Networks Act empowers the business and federal government to voluntarily share information on cyber threats from criminals, while protecting the privacy and personal data of American citizens."
