Hoeven Announces More Than $120,000 in Funding for Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Three Affiliated Tribes

Senator John Hoeven today announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded more than $120,000 in grant funding to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation through the Federal Highway Administration Tribal Transportation Program Safety Fund (TTSPF). The competitive funding is awarded to improve transportation safety and help prevent and reduce traffic accidents in tribal communities.

"It is important to upgrade and maintain infrastructure throughout our state, and this funding will empower tribes to address transportation needs in their communities," Hoeven said. "Improving infrastructure on tribal lands will help to improve quality of life and ensure the continued safety and wellbeing of Native Americans in North Dakota."
