Carper, Coons, Carney will Host Three Job Fairs this Spring

Press Release

Date: March 4, 2015
Location: Wilmington, DE

Working to connect individuals searching for jobs and assisting companies looking to fill full and part time positions, U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and U.S. Representative John Carney today announced the dates of three job fairs this spring:

Monday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wilmington University's Dover campus;
Friday, April 10 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Delaware Technical Community College's Stanton campus; and

Monday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
The Congressional delegation is now looking for companies that have jobs to fill and are looking to hire. Interested employers should contact Senator Coons' office at 302-573-6345 or via email at workshop@coons.senate.gov. Businesses will be on hand at the fair to meet potential new employees, and only employers with positions to fill will be permitted to attend.

For the third straight year, the delegation has partnered with Brandywine Counseling and Community Services to host the Kent County job fair and will be on hand to provide job seeking skills workshops like resume-writing and interview techniques.

"I am proud to partner with Senator Coons and Congressman Carney again to help hard-working Delawareans find high-quality job opportunities in all three counties," said Senator Carper. "Helping to create a nurturing environment for job creation in Delaware and across the country is one of my top priorities. We have a world-class workforce here in the First State and the upcoming job fair will link people who are looking for work with employers that are eager to hire."

"Our economy is growing, but we need to make sure it's growing for everybody," Senator Coons said. "We've been hosting these job fairs for four years to connect those looking for jobs with employers ready to put them to work. These fairs are a great opportunity for job seekers to meet with representatives from government agencies, private sector, staffing agencies, military recruiters and more. We hope that organizations that are hiring will reach out and come to one of our job fairs to meet the talented Delawareans who are looking for work."

"The national economy is picking up steam. But we still have too many Delawareans who are unemployed or underemployed and looking for work," said Congressman John Carney. "Over the last several years, we've done job fairs in every part of the state to connect qualified job seekers with employers looking to hire. We're looking forward to building on that in 2015, starting this month in Dover."
