Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the following statement today on the Senate's vote on a motion to proceed to a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security:
"The President has overreached with his executive order on immigration. Over twenty times, he said that he did not have the authority to do what he did. I will do everything I can to oppose his executive action, and I will do everything I can to work towards real, responsible immigration reform which includes strong border security provisions and a guest worker program.
"The Department of Homeland Security must receive the funding it requires to keep our country safe. We cannot endanger our national security over a political dispute. We need solutions on immigration reform, and we must fund the Department of Homeland Security. I look forward to voting on a bill to fund the Department of Homeland security, and I look forward to finding solutions to fixing our broken immigration system."
