Gardner Votes to Aid Victims of Child Pornography

Press Release

Date: Feb. 11, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) voted today in favor of S. 295, the Amy and Vicky Child Pornography Victim Restitution Improvement Act of 2015. This legislation strengthens the existing laws on child pornography, making it easier for victims of child pornography to receive full compensation from the perpetrators of these despicable crimes. Additionally, the Act increases the amount victims can receive by holding each wrongdoer involved responsible for the victim's entire injury, and setting guidelines for determining the amount of restitution owed by the defendant, including minimum amounts for production, distribution, and possession of child pornography. The legislation passed the Senate unanimously.

"This is long-overdue legislation. We must do everything we can to protect the most vulnerable among us, and bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice. No amount of money will ever truly repay victims, but holding these predators fully liable for their actions is a step in the right direction. I was proud to cast my vote in support of the Amy and Vicky Child Pornography Victim Restitution Improvement Act, and I'm glad that it passed the Senate."
