U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has announced that she has been named to serve on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies. The Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture is responsible for deciding how the federal government spends money on strengthening American farming, spurring rural development, maintaining food safety, and more.

"I am proud to be named to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture and I look forward to bringing our Wisconsin values to the national conversation about how we invest in farming, rural development, and moving our economy forward," said Senator Baldwin. "Our strong agricultural sector is a driver of economic growth, so I will continue to work to build a Grown in Wisconsin economy by making important investments in our rural communities that create opportunities for new family farmers to carry on the Wisconsin tradition."

"We are encouraged to have Senator Baldwin serving on the agriculture appropriations subcommittee," said Jim Holte, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President. "Senator Baldwin understands the agricultural diversity we have in this state and the importance of its contribution of more than $88 billion to Wisconsin's economy annually. We look forward to her leadership as she advocates for Wisconsin farmers on the national level."

"We are pleased Senator Baldwin is continuing Wisconsin's tradition of having a meaningful presence on this subcommittee to provide a strong voice for the state's agricultural issues," said Bill Oemichen, Cooperative Network President and CEO. "We recognize she has many choices, and we're extremely grateful to see this is one of her priorities."

Previously, Senator Herb Kohl served on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies. Senator Baldwin has also been named to four other U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittees. Baldwin will serve on the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies; the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies; the Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; and the Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
