Olson Slams Obama Veto of Keystone Xl Pipeline

Press Release

Date: Feb. 24, 2015
Issues: Oil and Gas

Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land) today issued the following statement slamming President Obama's veto of legislation to approve the Keystone XL pipeline - which would create 42,000 shovel ready jobs and help North American oil flow to our refineries in Texas:

"For 2,349 days President Obama has delayed and refused to make a decision on approving the Keystone XL pipeline," Rep. Olson said. "Today, he said no to the shovel ready jobs he asked for with his costly stimulus bill when he first took office. He said no strengthening our economy and energy security, and he said no to the labor unions looking for work.

"The president's own State Department has approved this project and it has been exhaustively studied and determined to be safe. At a time when the American people are asking their government to end the gridlock and provide solutions to grow jobs and improve our quality of life, this president has said no. Mr. President, the American people expect and - quite frankly - deserve better."
