Location: Washington, DC

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the below statement following House passage of H.R. 1029, the EPA Science Advisory Board Reform Act of 2015.

"Today's bipartisan vote is an important step toward improving the transparency behind the information which guides the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in its regulatory decision-making," Rep. Scalise said. "This bill ensures that the Science Advisory Board (SAB), which provides advice to the EPA, is qualified and objective in its recommendations. More importantly, the bill requires the SAB to publicly disclose any scientific advice it gives to the EPA, making it more accountable to the American people. I would like to thank Reps. Lucas and Peterson for their continued efforts in holding the EPA accountable."
