U.S. Rep. McSally Statement on Passage of Homeland Security Funding

Statement

Date: March 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Martha McSally today released the following statement after the House voted to ensure funding for the Department of Homeland Security:

"The first and highest priority of the federal government is to keep Americans safe, and, right now, we face greater threats to our country than I've ever seen. Allowing funding for our critical homeland security assets to lapse would not only be irresponsible and harm many families in Southern Arizona, it would put our national security at risk at an increasingly dangerous time."

"The President clearly overreached with his executive actions, and Congress should act to stop his overreach, but not by putting the safety of Americans at risk. As I've continually stated, Congress needs to do its job by securing our border and revamping our legal immigration system so it aligns with our economic needs. I will continue to work with my colleagues to find solutions that will improve security along our border, fix our broken immigration system, and make our communities safer."
