Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and seek a conference negotiation with the Senate on President Obama's executive amnesty.

"Using the rules of the Senate, a minority can block legislation. When Republicans did this they were criticized as obstructionists, but now Senate Democrats are doing the same thing,"said McKinley.

Six weeks ago the House voted to fund homeland security and stop Obama's executive amnesty of illegal aliens. But Senate Democrats consistently obstructed that bill, refusing to open up debate during four separate votes.

"By refusing even to debate funding homeland security and ending Obama's lawless amnesty, Senate Democrats have obstructed the will of the American people," said McKinley.

The House passed two bills today, one to fund homeland security through March 6, and another to enter a conference negotiation with the Senate on longer-term homeland security funding.

"Senate Democrats should give Americans peace of mind by ending their obstructionist tactics and agreeing to use long-standing Congressional procedure to use a conference committee to negotiate differences," said McKinley.
