U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement regarding the passing of George Phillips, a former Cochran staff member and U.S. Attorney:

"I am saddened by the passing of George Phillips, whose dedication to doing right for the people of Mississippi characterized everything he did. While we mourn his death, I think there is comfort in acknowledging that George led a life well lived in the service of others. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
