Congressman Bishop Response to President Obama's Community College Proposal

Statement

Date: Jan. 9, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) issued the following statement regarding the White House's recent proposal to invest in America's education system by making community college free for responsible students for two years:

"I believe that this proposal is an excellent idea and commend the President for his timely action. Unfortunately, our nation has fallen behind in STEM education, and so our country needs to improve the quality and quantity of education for all Americans. Of course, the devil is always in the details, especially in our current fiscal climate. Nevertheless, the more emphasis we can place on education, especially technical education and job training, the better we will be able to remain competitive and maintain our status as a global leader."
