Date: Jan. 13, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Representative Gwen Graham has been appointed to serve on the House Armed Services Committee. Graham requested to serve on the committee to represent the service members and their families in the Second Congressional District, which is home to Tyndall Air Force Base and a Naval Support Center.

"I'm going to make it my job in Congress to serve the men and women who put their lives on the line to defend our country," Graham said. "Whether they're stationed in North Florida or on the front lines, our service members deserve to know we have their backs."

Graham will serve on the committee with fellow Florida Reps. Jeff Miller (FL-01) and Richard Nugent (FL-11). Graham and Miller's districts neighbor each other and together represent Florida's entire panhandle.

"The bases in our district provide great economic activity for North Florida," Graham said. "I'm going to work with Republicans and Democrats to advance our region's interests and protect the military-related jobs in North Florida."
