Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] released the following statement after voting for the Tax Increase Prevention Act (H.R. 5771):
"The temporary nature of many of our federal tax policies fails to provide the stability and certainty families and businesses need to budget and plan," said Rothfus.
"Today's bill provides a one-year extension of many tax relief provisions to prevent a tax increase on Americans.
"This was an unfortunately necessary step to prevent further harm to our economy. It is not a solution, however, and Washington must get serious about comprehensive tax reform to unleash the potential of America's workers and get our economy booming again.
"Only a robustly growing economy can restore the promise of the American Dream and enable us to pay for our priorities in government."
H.R. 5771 passed the House of Representatives by a bipartisan 378-46 vote.
